Telford & Wrekin Council holds showcase for future apprentices
There will be no such comments like “you’re fired” at next week’s Apprentice Roadshow in Telford on Tuesday 12 July.

Instead many organisations and training providers are on hand to help young people who are looking for work to get hired as apprentices.
The showcase ‘The Real Apprentice’ will take place on Tuesday 12 July 3.30-8pm at Oakengates Theatre @ The Place. Entrance to this event is free and there will be the opportunity to find out about apprenticeships ask questions and meet people who will have the answers.
More than 20 training providers and other organisations will be exhibiting on the day including local colleges, Connexions, Telford & Wrekin Council and many more.
There will also be a chance for everyone who attends the event to enter a free prize draw to win an Apple iPad – Just the type of gadget that you may need in the workplace these days.
Councillor Charles Smith, cabinet member for Resources and Service Delivery, said: “This event will be a great way for young people across the borough to find out about the world of work.
“I really hope that the event will help them in finding their first job as apprentices or alternatively make life changing decisions that are right for them.
“Invitations for this event have been sent to 7,000 young people in Telford and Wrekin aged 15-18 in schools and colleges. As one of the council’s priorities is to maximise the aspirations of every young person, teenagers who are not in employment or education have also received invitations.
“This event could be the stepping stone they need to find a route into something that they will enjoy.”
Unlike the hit TV programme The Apprentice, there will be no bizarre tasks and no confrontations in the boardroom.
The Real Apprentice will simply feature advice and different options presented to help young people in Telford and Wrekin make informed choices about their future.
