New Shropshire Business offers a new take on Children’s Party bags
A new family business has launched in Shrewsbury producing handcrafted, unique fabric party bags, eco-ethical party products and gifts.

The family business is run by Debs and Terry Scanlon and was started in April 2011 working from home in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
They hope that their business will strike a cord with parents who will have one less thing to worry about when organising a Children’s Party.
Debra Scanlon has a background in Ecology and cares about the sustainability of the world and it was this that inspired her to create Lootybag which offers a handcrafted, unique, quality party and gift service that is also eco-ethical.
She said ”As a mother I have been frustrated by the sea of plastic that seems to be vital in holding a children’s party and the poor quality of party bag gifts my child has received, despite the not insignificant amounts of money spent on them.
"Many party bag fillers fail to survive even the journey home, so the joy in receiving a small gift is quickly replaced by disappointment, frustration and a handful of dangerous broken plastic shards, which are destined for landfill even before the cake is eaten.”
Debs believes it really is possible to have a party, even a children’s party, without that sea of plastic by choosing Lootybag products which are selected to be eco-ethical.

She added "I understand that buying party bags and gifts for any occasion can be stressful and time consuming. That’s why I have based my service on one simple philosophy – to remove all those stresses and strains by offering a convenient, flexible, personal approach.
"I make and source products that offer a real alternative, but that do not cost the earth (either monetarily or environmentally!) We stock beautiful items that are durable and either reusable, recycled or recyclable, with no resulting toxic landfill."
Lootybag has produced sustainably forested beechwood cutlery offering the convenience of disposable partyware but can be composted and biodegrades in about the same time it takes an oak leaf.
