Shrewsbury Business Chamber has invited members of the business community to a presentation to a presentation at 6pm on Thursday 15th September.

The presentation will take place at the Greenhous Meadow Stadium, Shrewsbury Town Football Club, by Mrs Mandy Thorn, Managing Director, of Marches Care Limited and the Chair of the Shropshire Business Board.

Peter Bettis, Chairman of Shrewsbury Business Chamber said: “We are looking forward to receiving a presentation by Mrs Mandy Thorn, who will be speaking about the Shropshire Business Board, and their plans for re-energising town centres, encouraging inward investment, and enabling small businesses to grow. This will be an interactive meeting so please come along and join in! This is a great opportunity for businesses to give their views and ideas to Mrs Mandy Thorn so that she can feed them in to their business plan that is currently being updated, and also to find out how the Shropshire Business Board interacts with the Marches LEP”.

Mrs Mandy Thorn, Managing Director, of Marches Care Limited and the Chair of the Shropshire Business Board said: “As the recently appointed chair of the Shropshire Business Board, and the MD of a Shrewsbury based company I am passionate about the role of businesses in the town and about how we can work together to make a difference to our community.

"The role of businesses in improving the wealth of our town and county is crucial particularly in the current very difficult economic climate. The Shropshire Business Board has been in existence for over three years and has a brief to "business proof" the local authority's strategies for economic development and to suggest ways of supporting business growth as well as acting as ambassadors for the County to encourage inward investment. All the members of the business board have volunteered their time and their commitment and expertise has made a difference, particularly the efforts of Dr Geoffrey Davies who was the previous Chair and who now chairs the Marches LEP.

"I have been involved in the Business Board for just a year and now find myself in the odd position of chairing this group of distinguished business people who represent many of Shropshire's biggest and best known companies. I want to talk about how the Shropshire Business Board will work going forward, and our aim to work with the businesses in the Market towns. However the reality of there being little or no public money available to facilitate or support our efforts means that we are going to need to work in new ways."

The meeting is for members of the business community only, and although it is admission-free booking is essential (for catering purposes for the free buffet) by contacting Val Povall, SBC Secretary on (01939) 236001 or by Email to: valpovall@trebles.free-online.co.uk
