Shropshire Lubricants Company announces £600,000 investment
New investment of £600,000 has been announced by Britain’s leading family-owned, independent oil blenders and marketers at the company’s Shrewsbury headquarters.

The investment by Morris Lubricants at its Castle Foregate works follows close on the heels of a £1 million blending and storage facility, which was opened by The Princess Royal last year.
The work includes a new small pack filling and labeling line, which replaces two lines, a new warehouse and distribution centre and four new bulk additive tanks with a storage capacity of 220 tonnes.
Managing director Andrew Goddard said the work was designed to centralise distribution and improve working practices, process flow and the health and safety of the workforce by reducing forklift movements.
Investment in the warehouse and distribution centre includes the creation of 820 pallet spaces, the purchase of two narrow aisle Bendi trucks and two Linde picking trucks. The new bulk additive tanks adds extra volume to the company’s blending process and reduces manual handling.
“This significant new investment will help the company to meet growing demand for modern engine oils, as we continue to diversify our product range,” added Mr Goddard.
The company, which employs 140 people, provides a service to 4,000 customers in all corners of the UK, but also has a growing export business to more than 65 countries worldwide, including New Zealand, Australia and Pakistan.
Morris Lubricants sells more than 800 product lines, including the latest auto and motorcycle lubricants technology for modern engine and transmission designs, as well as tailored grades for the traditional classic, veteran and vintage vehicle market.
Industrial metalworking fluids and specialist production lubricants complete a product portfolio to fulfil the needs of automotive and industrial manufacturing.
Mr Goddard is a fifth generation direct descendant of entrepreneur James Kent Morris who established the company in 1869 at the age of 22.
