A long-standing county recruitment agency has teamed up with the local franchise for a national driver recruitment and training organisation.

Shropshire merger of recruitment companies

Office Employment and Recruitment Solutions (OER), formerly Mercia Recruitment, of Shrewsbury, has merged with Driver Hire Shrewsbury, part of the Driver Hire Nationwide Network, the UK’s largest transport and logistics recruitment group.

The new division of Driver Hire, to be called DH Shrewsbury, will be based at the Rural Enterprise Centre at Battlefield, Shrewsbury, offering temporary and permanent driving jobs, non-driving positions and training covering Shropshire and the Mid Wales region.

The new joint venture is to be headed by Dawn Bates, former head of OER, and will be officially launched with an evening drinks reception on Thursday 17th November at the Rural Enterprise Centre in Shrewsbury.

Dawn commented: “This is an exciting new venture and we will be able to call on the vast resources of a national company regarding regulations and responsibilities, including full compliance with the recently introduced Agency Worker Regulations.

“Our operating systems are designed to ensure that these regulations are implemented in the most effective way for both our staff and clients alike.”

Andrew Deeming, director of Driver Hire Shrewsbury, added: “We have specialists Tiffany Jones and Paul Gouge in house to offer free guidance on related issues and we also provide training courses in Driver CPC qualifications, fuel efficiency and digital tachographs.

“As a network, we have trained over 7,000 drivers and expect an increase in demand as the deadline approaches for this compulsory training to be completed.”

DH Recruitment Shrewsbury can be contacted on 01743 453153.
