Oswestry Library work club are running a business start-up session for anyone interested in starting their own business.

The session, to take place at the library on Friday 18 November 2011 from 10am until 12pm, offers people a chance to come along and find out more about what is involved, including how to find sources of funding and what advice and support is available.

There will be a number of representatives on hand throughout the day, such as:

Shropshire Council’s business enterprise team – information on funding streams and BusinessLink sessions
David Clough from Oswestry Town Markets – advice on running a market stall
Community Council of Shropshire/South Shropshire Furniture Scheme – advice on setting up a social enterprise
Women In Rural Enterprise – information about business start-up courses and local networks
Oswestry Chamber of Commerce – advice on local networks
Jobcentre Plus – information about the new Enterprise Allowance Scheme
Banks and local commercial support agencies – information on financial support
Inland Revenue – information about tax and National Insurance

Councillor Keith Barrow, Shropshire Council’s leader, said: “Our libraries are not just about lending books. This is just one example of how we are using our buildings to support local communities.

“Running these sessions mean people can access a range of information from lots of different sources.”

Councillor Steve Charmley, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for active and healthy lifestyles, said: “This is a great event for people interested in starting up their own business, as all the experts will be in one place. I’d like to encourage as many people as possible to go along and find out what support and advice is available.”
