Morris Care, one of Shropshire’s premier providers of quality nursing care, is celebrating success after winning three awards at the annual Shropshire Partners in Care (SPIC) Awards ceremony.

Shropshire's Morris Care wins the treble

Jackie Hodson from the Morris Care Centre, Telford, walked away with the coveted title of ‘Carer of the Year’ in the residential and nursing category for her dedication to delivering the highest quality care for the elderly and younger physically disabled residents in her care.

Morris Care’s Oldbury Grange Nursing Home, Bridgnorth, won the prestigious ‘Health and Wellbeing’ award for its diverse and innovative range of activities and events that better the lives of its residents. Each Morris Care home has a dedicated Social Life Coordinator who arranges a daily programme of activities to ensure wellbeing amongst residents, and Oldbury Grange’s Social Life Coordinator, Geraldine Bunning, was on hand to collect the award on the night.

The final award of the night went to the Morris Care Group, who took home the ‘Healthy Eating’ award in recognition of its commitment to providing a healthy, fresh and varied diet for its residents. Under the direction of Paul Ratcliffe, Executive Chef for Morris Care, the Morris Care Group prepares all of its meals onsite, and holds regular ‘restaurant evenings’ for residents and their families, where they enjoy gourmet, restaurant style three course meals, finished with coffee and homemade chocolates, in the comfort of their own surroundings.

Margaret Maudsley, Chief Executive of Morris Care, said: “We are delighted to have won three such prestigious awards. Congratulations to Jackie, the team at Oldbury Grange and the catering staff across the Morris Care Group for their awards.”

Tim Morris, Director of Morris Care, said: “Morris Care is committed to delivering the very best quality nursing care, and ensuring that each and every resident is treated as an individual.

“It is this ethos which has established us as one of the premier care providers in the county, and these awards are a true reflection of all of the hard work and dedication that everyone at Morris Care shows to our residents.”

The awards are run by Shropshire Partners in Care, a non-profit organisation supporting the development of a sustainable and high quality social care sector in the areas of Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin. This year’s glittering ceremony took place at the Lord Hill Hotel, Shrewsbury, and were hosted by actor James Sutton, best known for his roles in Hollyoaks and Emmerdale.

Morris Care owns and runs six nursing homes in Shropshire and Cheshire, offering the very best in quality nursing care. For more information on Morris Care visit www.morriscare.co.uk.
