Worcester Diocese appoints Oswestry surveyor for energy certification

Oswestry based property surveying company, The Homebuyers Friend Ltd, has been awarded a major contract to provide Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) to the Church of England’s Worcester Diocese.

Worcester Diocese appoints Oswestry surveyor for energy certification

The contract follows a General Synod decision in 2011 to set a carbon emission reduction of 25 percent by 2020 across the Church’s property portfolio.

The Homebuyers Friend Ltd’s Managing Director, John Pittaway, comments: “Naturally, I’m delighted we have been awarded such a prestigious contract from the Worcester Diocese. Using EPCs the Church can evaluate the current efficiency of their domestic properties to see what improvements are required to their housing stock.

“Our recommendations may include changing boilers to more energy efficient models, upgrading windows and doors or providing more insulation in roof spaces or walls.”

The Homebuyers Friend Ltd, a recent finalist in the Advertizer’s Local Business Accelerator Scheme, has a network of qualified surveyors right across England and Wales. It provides EPCs, Home Condition Surveys and conducts surveyor accompanied property viewings for home buyers seeking to move house.

John adds: “We alert property buyers to any potential problems that may exist before they invest time, money and emotion into the buying process. The Worcester Diocese property portfolio is significant and is a great win for that side of our business.”

It is anticipated the contract will take up to two years to complete.
