Rockford IT supports Safer Internet Day

As strong advocators of using highly secure methods and protection when surfing the Internet and accessing IT networks, Rockford IT, a leading managed IT Service provider, are backing “Safer Internet Day” – an annual educational event to promote the important reasons and methods to be safer online.

“Safer Internet Day”, which takes place on the 7th February, promotes safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially amongst children and young people across the world. The theme this year centres on “Connecting generations and educating each other”. Rockford IT understands the importance of such a day, and the ongoing requirements to make Internet users, no matter their age, aware of the reasons to be safe online, and how to best do this.

The company, with many customers in the education sector, offer advice and security solutions to ensure that businesses are kept up to date with the latest security protection and defences against attacks and network vulnerabilities. For this, Rockford IT uses WatchGuard security appliances – well established security solutions that are perfectly suited for the education sector.

Knowing the importance of protecting children from dangers on Internet, Rockford IT offers WatchGuard XTM products which allows schools, colleges and other establishments to efficiently implement network security to keep their students safe, including the deployment of features such as Web filtering and Antispam, with the ability to control web surfing simply and easily, track, monitor and review real-time reports, and keeping social networking sites – or specific areas of social networking sites - off limits. WatchGuard appliances are additionally the only UTM solution on the market that offers web reputation defence as a fully integrated security subscription for all WatchGuard XTM appliances, protecting students from malicious web pages while dramatically reducing web processing overheads.

Commenting on the support of “Safer Internet Day”; Tom Sykes, Rockford’s Managing Director, comments; “We fully back the promotion of this day and the important education and support businesses are offering in making people safer online. It cannot be underestimated the devastating effects viruses, hacking and network attacks can have on a business – or a person for that matter. This is especially the case when schools and colleges are involved, and the protection of their students is paramount. We, at Rockford IT, have always expressed a crucial necessity in ensuring users are completely protected when it comes to Internet use, and are pleased to be supporting such a day to help reinforce that importance.”
