A local entrepreneur is awash with success after celebrating the tenth birthday of his environmentally-friendly cleaning company.

Chris cleans up with decade of success in Shropshire

Chris Garvey launched Telford and Four Crosses-based G-Force Steam back in 2001, fulfilling a lifelong ambition to create and run his own business. The firm provides a range of technologically-advanced steam cleaning solutions that are more environmentally-friendly than traditional cleaning methods, as they don’t rely on harmful chemicals or acids.

As well as being able to remove chewing gum and graffiti from walls and hard surfaces, G-Force Steam is able to clean driveways, forecourts, block paving, and the exterior of buildings. Over the past decade, Chris and his team have worked with a variety of clients, including Shropshire Council, Telford and Wrekin Council, and a number of private sector companies spanning the construction, retail, and facilities management sectors, amongst others.

Last summer, the company played an integral role in the repaving of Wellington Town Centre, a project that involved not only cleaning thousands of new paving stones, but also applying a water-based, stain-resistant protective coating.

Chris Garvey, Founder and Director of G-Force Steam, who was actually born and raised in Wellington, explained: “In one of my previous jobs as a road sweeper, I used to see buildings blighted by graffiti, and pavements and surfaces covered in oil, grease and dirt, and thought that there must be a more effective way to clean them. Steam cleaning seemed a natural solution, as compared to other methods, such as pressure washing, there’s a huge reduction in the amount of environmentally-damaging chemicals that need to be used.”

The firm, which operates out of offices in Shropshire and Powys, prides itself on using the latest technologies and modern equipment. Last year, it became the first cleaning company in the UK to purchase a PVAC Hydro Vacuum®, an innovative machine designed to wash and dry a surface at the same time, completely eliminating residue water.

In addition, the company also offers a specialist service that helps clean and restore historic buildings and structures, a side to the business that has given Chris some of his most memorable moments.

“We’ve been extremely fortunate to work on some truly fantastic projects over the years, including cleaning the deck of the world-famous Ironbridge, and cleaning the Grade II-Listed Granary Art Gallery in Weston Park. Once, we even had to use the second largest cherry-picker in the UK – which was about 55 metres high – to remove graffiti from the Forest Glen, the gateway to the Wrekin.”

G-Force Steam is one of the leading providers of environmentally-sound external cleaning solutions in the UK. With a passion for excellence, quality and the environment, G-Force Steam uses the latest technology and equipment to ensure that the cleaning process is carried out without using abrasive technology or harmful chemicals.
