As part of its commitment to Shropshire’s 100 in 100 campaign, Walford and North Shropshire College are inviting applications for a newly established apprenticeship position in their busy finance team based in Oswestry.

The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time gaining valuable work experience helping with a range of finance and accounts functions, whilst undertaking the Association of Accounting Technicians qualification with support from the College. The position has employed status and will qualify for a weekly wage.

The vacancy, which has recently been posted on the National Apprenticeships vacancy matching service, is open for applications until Friday 16 March. The College is offering the successful candidate the opportunity to take the full Accounting Technicians qualification during a three year apprenticeship, starting at intermediate level 2, progressing onto advanced and higher levels.

Barbara Steadman, College Director of Finance, sees this is a superb opportunity for anyone looking to start a career in finance and accounting: “AAT is an excellent qualification and offers excellent career prospects. Our Finance Team are really excited about taking on a new apprentice who can learn on the job whilst helping with a variety of financial tasks in our busy office here in Oswestry”.

Martin Moreton, who heads the College’s Apprenticeship Training Programmes, is delighted to launch this new vacancy: “We generally have far more applications for apprentices than places available. As part of the 100 in 100 campaign, we are encouraging employers large and small to think about Apprenticeships and any placements they are able to offer. I think it is really important for the College to “walk the talk” and this new placement does exactly that.

Anyone interested in applying should visit the vacancy matching service (simply google “apprenticeships” or contact Walford Training on 01939 262131 or email m.moreton@wnsc.ac.uk ).
