Shropshire freight firm appoints business development manager
An award-winning Shropshire shipping company has appointed a business development manager as part of its strategy for growth in 2012.

Global Freight has promoted experienced freight specialist Carol Evans to the position as demand increases for the company's international trade services.
Managing director Nicole Howarth said the business development role had been created to investigate new opportunities for the company's successful import/export operation.
She said: “Despite the current economic climate and the troubles with the Eurozone in 2011, we are well-placed to push ahead with our plans to develop our business this year.
“I'm delighted to promote Carol who has worked for Global Freight for four years and is a well-known member of the team in the Shropshire and wider Midlands business community.
“This new development role will help build the business, investigate new markets for our services and take us to the next level. Carol has extensive operational and customer experience which she will also be able to pass on to new members of staff as we continue to grow the company.”
Carol, who already deals directly with a number of Global Freight's national and international clients and partners, said she was looking forward to the challenges of the new position.
She said: “I'm delighted to have been given the responsibility of helping with Global Freight's ambitious plans for the future. As a dynamic and customer service driven company, we are looking forward to developing new trading relationships in 2012 and increase the number of consignments which we are shipping into and out of the UK.
Chamber Patron Global Freight has also created another post at its Telford offices to support its growth strategy.
Nicole added: “Despite the recent recession, figures show that the economic downturn has had a positive impact on one in five businesses, forcing them to refocus their trading activity towards international markets.
“The Government is now placing a big emphasis on the role international trade will play in driving the UK's economic growth and helping to reduce the national debt. Britain’s trade deficit reached a record high last year despite a growth in exports, so there is an obvious need to drive international trade even further – we are looking forward to assisting this push in 2012.”
