Shropshire solicitor joins discussion panel
A leading Shropshire solicitor said he was delighted to be joining the panel for a Question Time-style event to be staged in the county later this month.
Paul Bennett, founder of Shrewsbury firm Bennett’s Legal, will be among the guests for the highly charged debate set to take place the day after Chancellor George Osborne reveals his latest Budget.
With experts predicting the Chancellor will include several controversial measures, the event on March 22 at Telford’s Holiday Inn is likely to tackle some of the hottest topics on the news agenda.
The evening has been organised by the Shropshire and Mid Wales branch of the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development for members based across the region.
BBC Radio Shropshire's Eric Smith will chair the event and field questions from the audience at what should prove to be a lively, informative and engaging evening.
Mr Bennett, who started his firm in 2009, said today he was delighted to be joining a diverse and experienced panel who would take on questions on a number of different issues adding that the budget was highly likely to feature in the discussion.
As part of his work Mr Bennett has advised and appeared in Courts throughout the UK, including winning cases in the Court of Appeal and has conducted litigation and provided legal advice worldwide.
Born and raised in Shrewsbury he added that it was very important to support organisations which staged such events in Shropshire focusing on issues central to everyone’s working life.
“With the current downturn in the economic climate employment and employment law is a real and urgent talking point and this will give people a chance to ask those burning questions that will further the debate,” added Paul.
“I feel very privileged to be taking part and look forward to joining the other panelists in taking on any topics which may be raised during the evening. Of course coming just a day after the budget there will be a number of new developments which will no doubt add to what already promises to be a comprehensive, energetic and interesting discussion.”
Members of the CIPD have been invited to attend although the event is not open to the public.
Joining Mr Bennett on the panel will be Rick Tudor, regional organiser for Unison, and Jill Bamford, group human resources director for ADAS.
