Shropshire funeral directors launch new ‘Expression of Wishes’ service
Shrewsbury, Four Crosses and Welshpool-based family firm, Aubrey Kirkham Funeral Directors, has launched its free Expression of Wishes form which allows people across Shropshire to make a note of things that are important to them, so helping their families arrange the perfect ceremony.
“Discussing funerals is difficult at any time” explained Aubrey Kirkham, “but sadly we have often seen the grief faced by families when they are unsure of what their loved one would have wanted. At such a challenging time anyway, having to second-guess such important decisions can cause real stress and even disagreements across the wider family.”
“We’re proud of the support that we offer the families we work with, and devising this simple form seemed like a natural extension of that support. It’s discreet, can be completed by anyone, of any age, and it provides genuine peace of mind that your wishes will be followed when your time eventually comes” Aubrey added.
The Expression of Wishes form is available from the Aubrey Kirkham Funeral Director offices in Shrewsbury or Welshpool, or from the Funeral Home in Four Crosses. “Anyone is welcome to request a copy and we can send this over to them absolutely free of charge” added Aubrey. “They simply need to make a note of their absolute dos and don’ts, wishes, and any wider preferences, and the form can then be filed away with their important documents. Rather like arranging insurance or making a will, it should provide a real sense of peace of mind and allow people to rest assured that they are making any arrangements as easy as possible for their families should the need arise.”
Just the latest in a line of community-focused initiatives organised by the firm, which have also included free grief counselling seminars and skills workshops for professionals working with bereaved families, Aubrey Kirkham Funeral Directors has been recognised for its hard work above and beyond by two consecutive Mayor of Shrewsbury awards, with the firm being presented the prestigious Gold Award last year.
