Shropshire storage company is a magnet for start ups

Mark Jones at Lockley Storage has noticed a pronounced change over the last couple of years in the type of clients for the self-storage part of this family business.

Shropshire storage company is a magnet for start ups

There has been a significant swing to start up and home based businesses looking for cost effective and convenient secure storage. Perhaps it reflects the growth in those seeking to make their own futures rather than work for others. Perhaps it is that Shropshire has become a particularly fertile source of micro businesses. Whatever it is, Lockley Storage is well placed to take advantage of the surge.

So far the spectrum of start-ups covers furniture repairers, E-Bay and other E-commerce operations, several ‘Man in a Van’ needing storage for valuable tools or materials. Mark is under no illusions about this fresh crop of clients saying, “ We know we are a stepping stone for these businesses. If they are successful in a year or two they will have outgrown our storage and will be looking for their own premises, which is great. What we can offer is a cost competitive resource for those tricky first few months while they get established in business”. As well as competitive pricing, Mark attributes their success to their location, equidistant between Shrewsbury, Telford and Stoke on Trent as well as up to date security and care as well as immaculate 20 foot containers specially fitted and treated for damp proof storage.

The advantage of operations such as Lockley Storage for an infant business is that security is naturally much higher than in the home, it offers flexibility as stock levels rise and fall and it is easy for deliveries by larger vans or lorries.

If it were a formula it would be something like flexibility + economy + access + safety + location = business problem solved!
