Homebuyers who think they have missed out on the government’s Stamp Duty holiday have been thrown a lifeline by local builder Shropshire Homes.

Shropshire homes extends stamp duty holiday

Because although the government are reintroducing Stamp Duty Land Tax on purchases under £250,000 from 25th March, the company are extending this concession for anyone reserving a new home on their developments at Whitchurch, Much Wenlock or Stourbridge before the end of April.

As Shropshire Homes Sales Manager Angela Price explains, “We are very aware of the costs involved in moving home. As well as finding a deposit, purchasers also have to pay their solicitors and moving costs. So the government’s decision to re-impose Stamp Duty is a real blow for many buyers, and we’ll be helping out by paying the Stamp Duty that now applies.”

Shropshire Homes are also working with the government to help first time buyers with their deposits. Under the FirstBuy scheme, purchasers can usually move into a new home with a deposit of just 5% and a 20% loan from the government and builder.

“FirstBuy is a real help for people who can afford to pay a mortgage but don’t have a large deposit,” says Angela. “We have already helped a number of first time buyers get on the housing ladder and it’s great to see them moving into their new homes.”

Shropshire Homes ‘Stamp Duty Holiday’ is available on the last 3 three bed homes at Lady Forester’s Gardens in Much Wenlock, priced from £214,950; two and three bed houses at Waymills, Whitchurch which are priced from £132,950; and one and two bedroom homes at The Heritage Buildings, Wordsley from £85,000 - £235,000. (N.B.The Stamp Duty Holiday is not available to purchasers using the FirstBuy scheme.)
