Managing employee requests for leave over the Jubilee weekend
Many businesses are gearing up for a summer of juggling as dealing with staff holiday requests becomes an increasing complex issue.

Last year, we had an additional bank holiday due to the Royal Wedding. This year we have an additional bank holiday on 5th June to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. It means a summer of juggling holiday requests for many employers, as this additional day coincides with the spring bank holiday which has been moved to 4 June.
Many employees may choose to take the three days of leave in between in order to have nine consecutive days off. Employers may receive an influx of requests from their employees and some may struggle to remain consistent in the way in which they accept or decline leave requests.
Contrary to popular belief, employees do not have an automatic right to additional bank holidays, unless their contract provides for this.
Are you aware of what your contract days - does it need reviewing?
