Telford business celebrates record-breaking year
A Shropshire security company has had a record-breaking year resulting in huge investment in new premises and the creation of new jobs, its managing director revealed today.

The RMP Specialist Services Ltd – based at Stafford Park 12 in Telford, was rebranded under the RMP Group name last year when Jonathan Hill took over the company as the new managing director.
Mr Hill, who boasts more than 10 years experience in the security industry, said bringing the company's six businesses under one umbrella had seen business thrive with the acquisition of many new contracts.
The success over the past 12 months has seen the number of employees boom to around 150 and the new head office complex and state-of-the-art CCTV control suite, opposite their existing premises on Stafford Park, is currently under renovation.
The 40-year-old managing director from Bridgnorth said: “Specialist services is my key area but my leadership has seen all six sectors of the group grow at a astronomical rate. This has certainly been a record-breaking year for the group and we are looking to build on that success even further over the next 12 months.
“The company has gone from strength to strength in both profit and in its professional reputation.
“Despite the fact we are moving towards electronics and surveillance instead of man guarding, contracts for mobile security patrols have ten-folded in the last 12 months,” Mr Hill said.
“I have focussed all of my energy and time since joining the firm on the re-structure and we are now seeing the benefits that has had on both existing and new clients.
“To think we are a company that literally started in the Chief Executive Officer's lounge to a security company which has contracts all over the UK with CCTV and manned guarding and has also diversified with event management, locksmith services, bouncy castle hire and automotive services, is phenomenal and quite overwhelming.”
Mr Hill said vital new relationships had been formed between the company and police forces across the UK to help drive down crime, particularly on industrial estates and building sites.
He said the company aim was to provide jobs for people for the long term and offer them promotional prospects.
Mr Hill said work in the community was also close to his heart which had seen him volunteer to work in a soup kitchen on Christmas Day two years ago and then he manned the company CCTV control suite last Christmas Day so his staff could have the day off to spend time with their families without compromising the 24/7 service to their customers.
“This company and the huge progression it has made, particularly over the last 12 months, just shows how hard work does pay off with such a fantastic and dedicated team of workers as we have at RMP,” Mr Hill added.
The RMP Group includes the specialist security services which boast SIA (Security Industry Authority) approved contractor status for security guarding, door supervision, key holding and CCTV in public spaces; locksmith services; electrical; automotive; events organisation and entertainment inflatables.
