Expired bus pass holders can still travel in Telford & Wrekin area
Telford & Wrekin Council has taken action to reassure people eligible for the England Concessionary Bus card who have not yet received a new pass that they will still be able to travel in the borough over the Easter break.
A small percentage of a batch of 16,000 passes has not yet been delivered by the contractor responsible. These passes expired on March 31.
Telford & Wrekin Council has worked with bus company Arriva to ensure that there is a local exemption that enables all people with a concessionary travel pass to continue to travel until April 14, provided they show their old pass.
Councillor Hilda Rhodes, cabinet member for Transport and Community Protection, said: “It is unfortunate that there has been a delay with the delivery but we have worked closely with Arriva to ensure that everyone can still travel and I would like to thank Arriva for their co-operation in this.
“If you have received your new pass then carry on using that as normal. However if it has not arrived yet, you can use Arriva buses until April 14 provided you show your old pass.
“It should be noted that all this only covers journeys that originate in the borough. If you are travelling from outside the borough into Telford and Wrekin you will have to pay for your journey.
“We obviously would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused by this issue.”
