A prominent figure in the European lubricants industry has been recruited by Britain’s leading family-owned, independent oil blenders and marketers, Morris Lubricants.

Jan joins the management team at Morris Lubricants

Jan Trocki takes up his post as general manager of marketing and technology at the company’s Shrewsbury headquarters on April 2.

Mr Trocki brings a wealth of experience of the global oil industry to Morris Lubricants, having held senior managerial positions with BP and Castrol for 28 years. At BP, he was North Europe marketing manager for European Fleet Services, OEM Eastern Europe marketing development manager and international OEM business manager for BP CNA, while at Castrol Ltd, he was international OEM business manager and OEM technical manager.

For the past three years, he has been technical manager at SK Lubricants Europe BV, a subsidiary of Korea’s largest energy company, which is a global market leader in Group III - base stock manufacture and marketing.

He is also chairman of the Technical Council at ATIEL, the technical association of the European lubricants industry.

“I am looking forward to an exciting new challenge to further build on the solid foundations of an already successful company,” said Mr Trocki. “There is an opportunity for Morris Lubricants to build its reputation for lubricants specialism based on traditional values and relationship management.

“What attracted me to the company and what I have witnessed since I arrived is the passion that people have for the business. We need to focus that passion to grow the business both in the UK and overseas.”

His appointment at Morris Lubricants follows the retirement of technical manager Mike Bowen after 27 years’ service to the company. Mr Bowen will continue to undertake specialist projects for the company and remains a Pensions Trustee. New technical manager is Andy Litchfield, who is promoted from chief chemist.

“We are delighted to have recruited Jan and look forward to his contribution to the continued development and success of the business,” said Morris Lubricants’ managing director Andrew Goddard. “His considerable experience of lubricants technology and marketing will provide the impetus required today’s challenging market place.”

Mr Goddard also paid tribute to the Mr Bowen’s “huge contribution” towards the company’s success.
