The Wrekin Housing Trust has scooped a prestigious industry award, with their in-house gas team winning Partnering Initiative of the Year as well as Service & Maintenance Initiative of the Year at the H&V News Awards. The team were also finalists in a further category, Safety Initiative of the Year.

Triple Success for The Wrekin Housing Trust

The Trust won the Partnering Initiative of the Year award for its partnership work with Travis Perkins to source and supply gas parts. Having previously subcontracted out this area, the change has already had a direct benefit for tenants with better stock planning, quicker emergency repairs and on site supplies on hand every day.

They also won the Service and Maintenance category, being recognised for the work undertaken in bringing the gas operations in-house last April. Following the move, customer satisfaction levels have already risen further and tenants are now able to make appointments to suit them including evenings and weekends. The Trust also undertakes this service for two other landlords in the Midlands.

To complete the trio, the Trust’s gas team were shortlisted for the Safety Initiative of the Year – this is the third time they has been named a finalist in this category for their work on carbon monoxide awareness. The Trust warns of the dangers of carbon monoxide every winter when people start turning on their heating systems. A silent killer, carbon monoxide poisoning claims around thirty lives each year.

Fleur Whittingham, Gas Operations Manager says, “We are delighted to have been shortlisted in three categories and to have triumphed overall for two of them. The team has worked hard the last year to further improve our service for tenants and its always gratifying when that is recognised by your industry peers.”
