Llanfyllin based precision engineering firm, GWR Fasteners, attended the inaugural ceremony of the Oswestry & Border Chronicle Business Awards on the 26th April 2012.

GWR Fasteners wins prestigious business award

An independent panel of judges sat to determine the finalists to invite to the awards ceremony from an entry of over 60 businesses from across the region. All 24 finalists attended a glittering dinner and presentation night at the Lion Quays Waterside Resort where the winners were announced.

Guest speaker was Malcolm Walker, the man who launched Iceland in Oswestry in 1970 and who recently completed a £1.45 billion takeover of the company. There were six categories and GWR Fasteners entered the Innovation sector award for their unique GWR Colourfast stainless coloured fasteners.

GWR Fasteners was announced as the winner of the Innovation Award amongst stiff competition, and were presented with an engraved trophy by a representative from Turner Peachey Accountants who sponsored the award.

Gary Robinson, the Managing Director of GWR Fasteners, was at the ceremony to receive his trophy. He said "We are absolutely thrilled to have won this award. It feels like recognition for all the hard work and commitment that I, and my employees, have put into the business over the last 3 years since the business began. Our stainless coloured fasteners truly are a unique product serving the fasteners market. We look forward to continuing to grow the business in the years to come."
