Telford & Wrekin's 100 Apprenticeships in 100 Days
Telford & Wrekin Council and local businesses are on a mission to create 100 local apprenticeship places in 100 days!

The aim of the ‘100 in 100’ campaign is for public and private business leaders, training providers, the National Apprenticeship Service and the local newspaper, to work in partnership to deliver a sustainable campaign to influence the business community; driving up the number of Apprenticeship opportunities in Telford and Wrekin.
The 100 day countdown which started in January will come to an end on Thursday 22 May, 3pm with an event at Telford & Wrekin Council’s Civic Offices. All local businesses/organisations with an interest in introducing apprenticeships to their work force are invited to attend.
The event focuses on how local employers in Telford and Wrekin can work together to help meet the local demand and tackle youth unemployment in the borough.
Those who attend the event will be able to find out what financial support is on offer to employers who take on apprentices’ and how the scheme could help their business/organisation.
Councillor Shaun Davies, cabinet member for Co-operative Council and Partnerships, said: “As a Co-operative Council, Telford & Wrekin alone aims to double the number of apprenticeships that it offers by this time next year.
“From recruiting apprentices’ to join our work force, we have seen how young people can bring fresh ideas to the table and influence service delivery.
“We realise that times are hard especially for young people who are looking to secure their first job. This is why we are teaming up with our business community to strengthen our offer to young people in Telford and Wrekin.”
John Wayman, Regional Director for NAS, said: “Apprenticeships bring considerable value to employers, individuals and the economy as a whole. In an increasingly competitive world, no business can afford not to invest in training and apprenticeships are one of the very best and most cost effective was for employers to grow their own talent.
That is why we are driving the ‘100 in 100’ campaign, working alongside the other campaign partners to ensure that more organisations across all sectors and industries can have the opportunity to enjoy the business benefits that employing apprentices can bring.”
Those who wish to attend the event on Thursday 22 May should book their place by contacting alison.price@telford.gov.uk.
