Shropshire legal ladies host charity evening
Shropshire law firm MFG Solicitors has hosted a successful ladies night to help promote local business and raise money for a hard-working county charity.

The Telford firm’s annual shopping evening, which gave 14 independent retailers from across Shropshire the chance to showcase their products, was organised to raise funds for Age UK Shropshire – Telford and Wrekin.
The event, held at Shrewsbury’s Rybrook Mini dealership, raised £1,038 for the charity and their Diamond Appeal. The appeal, which marks the charity’s 60th year, aims to raise funds to support people with dementia and their carers by setting up further drop-in centres across Shropshire. Since being launched in December 2010 the appeal has raised over £60,000.
Fiona Barnes, partner and head of the private client team at MFG Solicitors, said: “Our ladies night has grown into a popular annual event. It not only raises funds and awareness for a worthy cause, but it helps support several of Shropshire’s female-owned businesses by giving them a stage to promote their products.
“The event was a tremendous success and was well attended with people browsing the various stalls and making a contribution to a charity which does so much for so many people here in Shropshire. I’d like to thank all those who came to support us and, of course, our tremendous hosts at Rybrook Mini.”
Heather Osborne, chief executive at Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, added: “Our Diamond Appeal relies on donations to help ensure we can support as many people as possible who suffer from dementia and importantly, their carers. The ladies night was a great fundraiser and a perfect example of how the commitment of local businesses can raise awareness of charity work here in Shropshire. We cannot thank MFG Solicitors enough for their generosity and organising what was a memorable evening.”
MFG’s donation to the charity’s Diamond Appeal includes funds raised by their Telford office through several events including a jewellery party, a sponsored walk, a half marathon and various ‘dress down’ days.
Statistics from Age UK show that dementia touches the lives of over 5,000 people across Shropshire.
