Following his club’s Premier League victory last weekend, television commentators pronounced him the best goalkeeper in the world. But despite his fame as Manchester City and England keeper, Shrewsbury born Joe Hart has kept his feet firmly on the ground and still finds time to support local Shropshire businesses.

One such business is owned by Beccy Bradburn, a handmade bespoke beaded jewellery maker from Ironbridge. Beccy was thrilled when Joe gave the thumbs up for her new Men’s Collection and agreed to have his photograph taken for her www.beadazzledbyjewellery.co.uk  website, sporting a set of beads that Beccy had tailor made for him.

Since launching beadazzledbyjewellery two months ago Beccy has gone from strength to strength, with most of her orders coming through word of mouth. Joe Hart heard about her jewellery from his mum, Louise, for whom Beccy has made several bespoke sets.

Louise, from Bicton, said: “What I like about Beccy’s designs is that they are elegant yet affordable, so you can have a set to go with almost everything you wear. As a designer she is also very adaptable and as well as her regular stock I know I can just describe a colour to her and a look I want and she can make it for me. Last Friday I went to a function wearing a set she had made specifically to match the dress I wore.”

Speaking about the beads she made for Joe, Beccy said: “I prefer to work on fixed wires because elastic can shred over time. My concern with Joe’s beads was size, because clearly he trains a lot and I needed to be sure the bracelets would fit around his wrist. I am really thrilled that he likes the beads and I think it’s great that men wear jewellery as well these days.

“With the bespoke jewellery people buy it because they are getting it at a reasonable price and know there isn’t going to be another set exactly the same. That said, a few people have loved something they have bought so much that they have asked me to replicate it for them to give to someone else as a present.”
