A sports coaching company today revealed plans for a children's Sports Festival and urged county businesses to support the event.

Shropshire businesses urged to support Children's sports festival

Former TNS players Neil Prescott from Telford, Steve Lalley from Market Drayton and Paul Marshall from Oswestry, who jointly own Ball Sports Community Coaching, hope the sports festival will bring businesses and the community together.

The bosses of the Telford-based company said the event would also give youngsters the chance to showcase their talents in various sports as sporting fever took hold across the UK.

Mr Prescott, who jointly launched the company with the other qualified sports coaches in 2008, said the success of their holiday camps had proved children in the county were sports enthusiasts.

“The sports festival event will give youngsters of any ability the chance to have a go but most importantly give the people of Shropshire the chance to show their community spirit.

“We hope businesses will support this event and take on a sponsorship package which will see their company name and logo on all of our publicity material and clothing.

“It is a great way to show support for an event which we hope will be a great success.

“It will be about bringing the whole of the Shropshire community together for a day.”

Mr Prescott said a venue and date had not yet been set as both would depend on the number of people participating.

He said they would be contacting the primary schools where they already provided lunchtime and after school clubs, along with the venues where they host the multi-sport, football and cricket coaching schemes during school holidays.

During the last four years, the three sports coaches have seen the numbers of children taking part in their holiday camps boom.

They now hope even more children will take part during the summer holiday camps due to the sporting fever sweeping the nation.

Any businesses, schools or sports clubs interested in getting involved in the event or finding about the sponsorship packages should contact Neil Prescott on 07817021068.
