Shropshire's training academy launches HR support package

Bosses at Shropshire’s new training and business academy have teamed up with county recruitment experts to help businesses find the perfect staff.

Toby Poulsom, principal consultant at The Academy in Shrewsbury said a consistent issue faced by many small and medium enterprises was the often exorbitant cost of getting expert help in recruiting new staff.

Mr Poulsom said Ruth Ross, managing director of Building Trust in Safety Ltd wanted to recruit an experienced health and safety consultant, which is a specialist role.

He said the first recruitment project, supported by Shane Hawkins, managing director of C2 Recruitment in Shrewsbury, had taken place at the business and training centre on Old Potts Way and had been hailed a great success.

Mr Hawkins, of C2 Recruitment, said: “Although we work nationally with some major brands it's great to get the opportunity to support local businesses.

“At the end of the day recruitment is not rocket science and the robust processes we have put in place for some of our national and international clients are just as fit for purpose in the SME market where finding the right people is critical to business growth.”

Mrs Ross said the additional support provided by The Academy had been a great success.

She said: “Working with both the Academy and C2 dramatically cut the cost of recruitment.

“The process started with a thorough consultation to discuss the role and establish what I needed. BTS then received 45 CV’s and selected five for interview.”

Mrs Ross said due to the central location of The Academy and the “impressive, professional and stylish facility” she opted to hold her interviews there where she was supported through the interview and selection process.

“On this basis BTS has appointed an experienced consultant who will be an invaluable asset to our team,” she added.

Mr Poulsom, who officially launched The Academy earlier this year said: “All businesses can benefit from occasional expert support.

“Our intention is to help signpost appropriate support but with a necessarily impartial and objective stance.

“Perhaps more importantly we can add very cost effective additional value with our own expertise, facilities and the resources we’ve invested in.”
