Apprentice numbers rocket in Telford and Wrekin
Telford & Wrekin Council and local businesses have smashed their target to create 100 apprenticeships in 100 days!

The 100 day countdown started in January as part of the national ‘100 in 100 campaign’.
The campaign has seen Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire Councils work together to recruit local businesses and training providers to drive up the number of apprenticeships available for young people.
The 100 in 100 campaign has produced impressive results with over 302 enquiries from local businesses being made which have resulted in 205 new starts for apprentices.
The campaign is only one way that Telford & Wrekin Council is trying to work co-operatively with its partners to help meet the local demand and tackle youth unemployment in the borough.
Telford & Wrekin Council alone currently employs 44 apprentices and is aiming to double this number by March 2013.
Councillor Shaun Davies, cabinet member for Neighbourhood Services & Co-Operative Council, said: “This is a fantastic start for our wider efforts to increase opportunities for young people in the borough.
“It shows that employers in Telford and Wrekin want to come together to grow their own talent and support local young people.
“I am very proud that working with our partners we have been able to smash the 100 in 100 target.
“Telford & Wrekin Council will build on this success and is also committed to having 100 apprentices by next March and I hope that more employers will join with us and invest in their future by recruiting young talent.”
