New Shropshire social enterprise pledge to children
A new social enterprise has launched in Shropshire which is to provide vital support for children, young people and their families, following a decision by a leading national children's charity to withdraw direct face to face services across the county.

Shrewsbury-based NewStart Networks CIC has been set up by a team of former NSPCC social work practitioners, after the charity's programme of restructuring, aimed at focusing attention on inner city areas, saw the closure of the Shropshire service in April this year.
Bringing together a team of five practitioners, with over 100 years collective work experience, who have excellent skills of communicating with children, young people and their families, the social enterprise specialises in the provision of therapeutic assessment and interventions for children and young people who have experienced trauma. The company will provide its services across England and Wales, ensuring vulnerable children and families receive the help and support they need.
Francesca Varutti from NewStart Networks, said:
"The NSPCC has historically provided a hugely valuable service to families within Shropshire and the decision to take this away meant that children and young people within the county were at risk of losing a valuable resource to meet their needs. To make sure that the specific requirements of the local community continued to be met, we took the decision to launch NewStart Networks as a vital new resource.
"We offer a wide range of services including therapeutic assessment and intervention programmes in cases of abuse, neglect or challenging behaviour. We can also offer specialist assessments for those between the ages of 4 - 18 years who display harmful sexual behaviour including comprehensive re-lapse prevention programmes as well as individual support for victims of sexual exploitation. Training packages for professionals in all aspects of our services are also available. Quality Practice placements for social workers in training are also provided.
"There are so many children, young people and their families across the county that need a service and we are very much looking forward to working closely with them, partner agencies and other professionals to ensure their complex needs are met."
NewStart Networks welcomes enquiries that meet the service specification from all agencies concerned with the care and welfare of children and young people. Whilst the company is not in a position to offer a service directly to individuals and families, this is something they aspire to providing in the future.
