Telford shipping company celebrates record first half to 2012
An award-winning Telford freight company is celebrating a record-breaking 2012, with turnover up more than 100 per cent since the start of the year.

Global Freight's managing director, Nicole Howarth, says the company is bucking the economic trend thanks to its commitment to assisting companies to trade overseas – irrespective of their size.
She said: “We've increased our customer-base steadily over the last 16 years, which means we have also grown our reputation for providing excellent customer service and value for money shipping solutions. The result of this hard work means we are now at the top of the list for many companies which want to start trading internationally and also need to have confidence that all the paperwork will be in order and the legalities as well as the logistics are covered.
“Thanks to new contract wins and increased orders from existing customers, 2012 is proving to be an amazing year for us so far, with clients' shipments to and from the Far East, South Africa and North America contributing to our increase in turnover.”
Despite the deepening crisis in the Eurozone, Global Freight has continued to move goods across the Channel, but is spotting a trend for increased shipments to destinations outside of Europe.
Mrs Howarth said: “There is a national challenge under way, spearheaded by Trade and Investment Minister Lord Green, to get up to 100,000 SMEs to either start exporting for the first time or spread to new markets.
“We are certainly seeing this happen as smaller companies embrace trading overseas and look beyond Europe to growing markets in Africa, Australasia and South America.”
The company recently scooped contracts to ship heavy lifting equipment to Mongolia, security fencing to Nigeria and giftware and souvenirs from China to destinations across the world.
“We are delighted to be assisting these companies, some of which are importing and exporting for the first time, and it is fantastic to be a part of their success story too. We help take the fear out of shipping for our customers, whether we are moving a container of goods across the Atlantic or a pallet-load into Europe.”
Global Freight has also expanded, recruiting an extra member of support staff at its Halesfield headquarters, while promoting Carol Evans to a business development manager position.
