Toni & Guy Incentive extended to NHS

An incentive which is helping Shrewsbury students to look good is being rolled out to NHS staff by one of the town’s leading hair salons.

Toni & Guy Incentive extended to NHS

Toni & Guy in Castle Street announced earlier this year that it was giving young people a helping hand to trim costs by introducing ‘VAT-free’ days for anyone with a student card.

“We started paying the VAT for students on Mondays to Thursdays so that effectively our prices are reduced by 20% to them,” explained Gavin Pulham, who owns the business.

“The initiative was the idea of our younger members of staff here, many of whom have been at college and know how difficult it is to get by on a grant, especially these days.

“We have got lots of customers who have benefited and the VAT free days have proved such a success that we now hope that others will take advantage of the offer,” Gavin said.

He explained that the scheme was being extended to members of staff from the NHS, such as nurses, doctors and other medical professionals.

“We know it’s not the easiest of economic climates but lots of people still like to treat themselves to a good hair cut and we want to help out as much as we can.

“All they have to do is come along and produce a student card or a NHS card and we will pay the VAT, meaning it now costs even less to look good.” Gavin added.
