Electrical engineer trains extra staff at Shropshire businesses
A Shropshire electrical engineer who runs a training company says a growing number of businesses are booking electrical training for staff other than their engineers.

Brian Tinson, who runs Tinson Training, said he regularly trained staff in electrical engineering who were working directly with the equipment but had recently seen a boom in the number of businesses wanting bespoke training for other members of staff too.
Recently Mr Tinson spent a week working with a company where he trained a range of people at different levels.
These included service engineers who needed in depth technical training, sales staff who needed enough knowledge to deal with customer queries when on site and an overall electrical appreciation for administrative staff.
The latter was designed to help the administration team understand the engineers with whom they were working with every day. He said this programme was servicing the company at different levels with all of it designed to make the business better.
Mr Tinson, who launched his company in 2008 and has since scooped contracts with national companies including Debenhams and Pirelli tyres, said his on-site training meant workers could relate to the training as it was designed specifically for them and based on their specific equipment.
Mr Tinson, who provides bespoke electrical training for all industries across the UK and Ireland from his company base in Donnington, said: “The most recent request involved training mainly sales people who were selling lighting equipment who had little electrical knowledge.
“As a result of the training they had a much enhanced electrical knowledge which improved their ability to work with clients and installation engineers. “One of the people on the course said ‘we can understand what they are talking about now’ after the course.”
The electrical expert added: “I specialise in working with people who are not usually electricians but carry out or are involved in many tasks as part of their job which involve electrics.
“Customers want first class customer service and training that is absolutely relevant that is going to make a difference to their business.
“This is paramount to sole traders and small and medium enterprises in Shropshire where training might be considered as a luxury they cannot afford.”
