A local business consultant is offering a helping hand to Shropshire companies seeking the best way to grow by launching a free guide to ensure they avoid some of the most common management mistakes.

Shropshire firms offered advice to cut out the mistakes

Written by Alan Adams, Founder and Director of Horizons Consultants, and available to download from the www.horizons-consultants.co.uk website, The Top 9 ½ Mistakes Businesses Make and What to Do About Them factsheet outlines a number of the fundamental errors that businesses of every size, shape, and sector can make, as well as providing some simple solutions that can help local business owners increase profitability, improve time management, and maximise their staff’s skills.

Amongst the ‘mistakes’ outlined in the guide are how many businesses fail to actually differentiate themselves from its competition, while other firms miss out on vital repeat sales because they don’t stay in touch with customers that have already bought its products or services. The document also asks why a number of businesses don’t offer a premier product or service at a higher price as a simple yet effective way to boost profit, as well as showing how by failing to outsource admin tasks, many business owners end up becoming ‘the bookkeeper, accountant, receptionist, tea-maker, copywriter, and the MD’.

Alan advised: “With the number of businesses closing currently higher than the number actually launching in the county, it’s crucial that business owners are given all the support and advice available to achieve real success. There are some truly amazing businesses in Shropshire with huge potential, but many are being held back simply by falling into the trap of making some of the same basic mistakes.

“This free guide not only highlights to business owners where these potential problem areas might be, but also how to tackle them in an effective and timely manner. It focuses on how making small, achievable changes in the way you run your business and your life can have surprisingly far-reaching and fantastically positive effects for you and your company.”
