Net the best candidates with online recruitment
It’s easy to make sweeping statements about the recession, but surprisingly there are some positive employment statistics around already this year.

Whilst it’s true that, at 8.2% of the population, unemployment is still relatively high, and numbers of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance rose in May, it’s important to note that numbers of those out of work dropped by 51,000 to 2.61 million in the three months to April, according to the Office for National Statistics.
The organisation said that, overall, the latest figures for the UK showed some improvement for both full and part-time workers.
And the total figure of 29.28 million employed was up 166,000 on the previous quarter, the biggest quarterly rise since August 2010.
These stats reflect the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development’s (CIPD) report on the first three months of 2012, which indicated that Britain’s employment market was set to improve in the months ahead.
Its survey of hundreds of employers showed that many planned to advertise vacancies further on in 2012. Specifically, the CIPD predicted that the majority of openings would be with charities and private companies in the insurance, property and finance sectors.
For hiring organisations, this could well mean tough competition for the best talent.
If you have vacancies to fill this summer, you’ll need the best recruitment agencies to help you source the best people.
For most organisations, online recruitment is overwhelmingly the most effective way of finding new staff, as it streamlines the recruitment process.
Recruiting via the Internet opens a much wider pool of talent than print alone, greatly increasing your chances of finding the right person for the right post.
It also speeds things up considerably. With no print deadlines, adverts go live in minutes, with responses often equally prompt. So hiring online is ideal if you’re in a hurry to get people in post to cover summer holidays, illness or other staff shortages. You could make an appointment in days.
Because it’s quicker, going online is cheaper, and there are also savings to be made on design and print expenses. Equally, the best sites for the best candidates can be targeted with razor-sharp precision.
And because the whole process is automated, all candidates compete in a level playing field and can be handled consistently, which is important if you have regional offices or several branches.
The Internet isn’t the only big change to have affected the way we source staff. Old pricing models are being replaced by more manageable recruitment options. If you haven’t heard of them already, fixed fee recruitment packages are a major industry development and can really help keep down the costs of hiring new staff.
With the traditional pricing system, a recruitment agency fee was calculated as a percentage of the successful candidate’s starting salary. So skilled staff members were a lot more expensive to hire. Equally, if, during negotiations, the agreed starting salary rose, the recruitment fee would rise. The fixed fee recruitment model eliminates this issue.
Bear these things in mind this summer, and use online-only, flat fee employment agencies to fill your vacancies quickly, with minimal hassle and expense.
