Major milestone for landlord and tenants marked with parties
Celebrations are being held across north Shropshire to mark five years since the creation of the area's largest social landlord.

Meres and Mosses Housing Association was formed in 2007, when it took over responsibility for homes formerly run by the now defunct North Shropshire District Council.
On the first day of the transfer a £30m improvement programme was launched for thousands of homes and Meres and Mosses Housing Association has since been responsible for a raft of innovations and initiatives to support its tenants and the wider community.
Meres and Mosses Housing Association had promised to complete its multi-million pound improvement scheme within five years but beat this target, completing the task eight months early, in November 2011, with homes benefiting from new high security doors, uPVC windows, central heating systems, mains operated smoke detectors, new kitchens and bathrooms and level access wet rooms, where needed.
To mark the five-year milestone a series of parties have been organised across the area, featuring free fun and games, prize draw, refreshments and freebies for all.
An invitation has gone out to all Meres and Mosses tenants to attend the free events, which kicked-off with a party at St Peters School, in Wem, at the end of July. This was followed by a bash at The Grove School, Market Drayton, on August 3, and two more are to follow at Whitchurch Rugby Club, on August 14, and Ellesmere Primary School, on August 16 from 4-7pm.
Meres and Mosses Housing Association is part of Shropshire Housing Group, along with South Shropshire Housing Association and maintenance firm, Total Response Limited. Shropshire Housing Group chief executive, Martin Holland, said: “There have been many achievements along the way since the tenants voted to entrust Meres and Mosses Housing Association with the responsibility for their homes and it has been pleasing to see those tenants working hand-in-hand with our team to ensure the services we provide are those that residents prioritise.
“We don't rest on our laurels though. These are testing economic times for everyone and we continue to look for ever more effective and efficient ways to serve our communities. However, five years is a great milestone and we thought it was something that should be marked with a celebration for the people who made it possible – our tenants and staff.”
