A Telford couple have launched a brand new business designed to help cash-strapped parents all over the town.

Telford couple launch business to help cash-strapped parents

Lorna and Tony Mellish, who have a daughter aged 19 months, know only too well how expensive it is to buy all the things a small child needs.

So they decided to tackle the problem by launching Kiddies Corner, in Oakengates, to help parents find the items they need at much cheaper prices.

“We realised that in such difficult economic times, many parents are finding it tougher and tougher to meet the costs, and so we are stocking a range of new and used products to help families meet the challenge,” said Lorna.

“It’s been an absolute dream of mine to open my own shop, and I can’t quite believe the doors are now open, but so far we’ve had a great response to the business and parents from all over Telford have shown real interest in what we can offer.”

Kiddies Corner, in New Street, Oakengates, stocks all kinds of items including new and nearly new clothes, toys, cots, Moses baskets, changing tables, pushchairs and gifts for children from 0 – 5 years old.

“We all want to give our children the very best but money constraints make it difficult, so with Kiddies Corner we wanted to provide good quality products at affordable prices,” said Lorna.

“We chose Oakengates as the location as it’s a great town and the regeneration work that’s currently ongoing, as well as the large free car park and transport links make it an exciting and accessible place to be.”

Lorna is also appealing for families to support the new business by bringing in used and nearly new products month by month and urged anyone interested to get in touch.
