Telford apprentice scoops promotion within three months
A Shropshire teenager has won promotion just three months after starting his career as an apprentice with a county fire and safety company.

Kallum Giles, 17, has started a three-year apprenticeship at Shires Fire and Safety on Stafford Park.
Kallum, a former pupil of Idsall School who lives in Albrighton, has embarked on the Matrix apprenticeship in business administration.
But company managing director Barry Mould said the youngster had impressed him so much in such a short space of time he was going to promote him.
The fire safety expert said: “Kallum is very professional and mature for his years.
“He has left me stunned with how well he has adapted here and is showing obvious potential in business.
“I already have plans for him to be elevated within the company so he will be running the installation side of the office.
“He certainly has a promising career ahead of himself and he is a real asset to the team here at Shires Fire and Safety.”
Kallum added: “I’m already getting a lot out of the job and am really enjoying it.
“I am learning new things every day and enjoy a challenge so to be given the chance to run a specific administration project like installation is fantastic.
“I’d like to thank Barry and his team for giving me such a fantastic opportunity.”
Kallum said although he enjoys academic studies he did not want to stay on at sixth form or go to college.
“I was eager to work within an industry and not within a classroom. I wanted the practical experience but also to get the qualifications at the same time.
“I would recommend an apprenticeship to anyone who felt the same,” he added.
Kallum has joined the seven other members of the administration team, along with the 10 qualified and BAFE approved engineers.
