Shrewsbury couriers delivering with football ticket tie-up

A Shrewsbury-based same day courier company has teamed up with the town’s promotion-winning football team to help it kick off the new season in style.

Shrewsbury couriers delivering with football ticket tie-up

Dex’s Midnight Runners (DMR) has been called on by Shrewsbury Town Football Club to ensure the safe delivery of all away supporter match tickets to teams visiting the Greenhous Meadow during the new npower League 1 campaign, as well as any potential cup-ties over the 2012-13 season.

The partnership, which started with The Shrews’ pre-season friendly matches against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leicester City, and continued with Graham Turner’s side’s August home clashes with Preston North End and Tranmere Rovers, sees DMR collect the visiting supporters’ ticket allocations from Shrewsbury Town’s ticket office a week or two in advance of the game. The tickets are then safely transported to the relevant opposition team’s stadium, for them to sell on or issue to fans.

After successfully gaining promotion from League 2 last season, Shrewsbury’s Greenhous Meadow stadium will host some of English football’s most historic names over the 2012-13 campaign, including Sheffield United, Portsmouth, and Coventry City, who will each bring significant travelling support with them to Shropshire. By utilising DMR’s secure courier service instead of standard postal delivery, the risk of match tickets being lost in the post when being transported to the 23 other league teams is eliminated, which avoids the cost and embarrassment of reprinting.

Derek Bennion, Director of DMR, commented: “Shrewsbury Town has achieved phenomenal success both on and off the field over recent months, and we are proud to join forces with them for the new season. We look forward to delivering the away match tickets throughout the campaign to destinations as far flung as Yeovil on the south coast, through to Hartlepool up in the north east. And we’re sure Graham and the players will continue to deliver out on the pitch, where it matters most, and have another tremendously exciting campaign.”

Richard Hill, Commercial Development Manager of Shrewsbury Town, said: “We place great emphasis on our club being at the very heart of Shrewsbury as a community, and where possible, we always strive to team up with local suppliers and businesses. We’re delighted to welcome DMR to our team and look forward to working alongside them in the coming months.”
