Oswestry pharmacist wins national award
An Oswestry pharmacist has won the Charter Award for his service and contribution to pharmacy after serving for 24 years.

John Gentle, superintendent pharmacist at the Pharmacy @ Caxton on Oswald Road, has been given the Charter Award for 2012 by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
Mr Gentle was recognised for his “outstanding service”.
He has previously served as the society assembly treasurer, has been a former member of the Society’s English Pharmacy Board and is a long serving RPSGB Council member.
Mr Gentle was presented the award at the RPS Annual Conference 2012 on Monday at the ICC Birmingham.
Society chiefs said Mr Gentle had spent 24 years dedicating time and energy to the society.
They said Mr Gentle had impacted on his patients’ lives through his work on local committees in Shropshire and Staffordshire and as a practicing pharmacist and pharmacy manager in Oswestry.
He said: “I am greatly honoured to accept the Charter Award and would like to thank the Assembly and the President.
“To receive such an award from the professional body is something that I value greatly and is a reflection of all of the help and support I have had from colleagues over the years.”
Martin Astbury, president of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society said:
“John has always been passionate about pharmacy, the Society, our members, and our future as well as being an outstanding health professional dedicated to his patients and the public.
“I am honoured to present this Charter Award to a truly worthy recipient in recognition of John’s commitment and dedication to the profession over many years.”
