Charity walk celebrates international year of co-operatives
Colleagues and members from community retailer The Midcounties Co-operative are joining teachers and pupils for a sponsored charity walk at Sutherland Business and Enterprise College in Telford.
Over 150 walkers have signed up for the seven or 14 mile IYC Walk on Saturday 15 September and will be donning their hiking boots for the charity trek which will raise money for Sutherland, Midcounties’ charity partner Women’s Aid and Margara Primary School in Tanzania.
The walk along the Silkin Way is part of celebrations for International Year of Co-operatives (IYC) which is all about working together to build a better future for all.
Di Bateman, Head of Membership Engagement said: “The walk is going to be a real challenge as we’re going to be hiking for several hours, but we’ve all been training hard and are determined to raise as much money as possible for the charities.
“Supporting others is something very important to Midcounties and our members, especially given that it’s International Year of Co-operatives which celebrates working together to strengthen communities.”
