A top stylist at one of London’s leading salons has moved to Shrewsbury.

London stylist joins Shrewsbury salon

Vasil Russell, whose clients included Meg Ryan and Bollywood star Bikram Vinrod, has been head hunted by Toni & Guy in Castle Street.

Salon owner Gavin Pulham explained that Vasil was looking to move somewhere more rural as his wife is expecting their first child.

“We heard that he wanted to get out of the city so made him a job offer in Shrewsbury – he thinks our town is great and of course loves the Shropshire countryside,” said Gavin.

“This is quite a coup for us as Vasil was a rising star in London – he will be a real asset to our team.”

Starting his career with John Frieda in Mayfair, Vasil then undertook advanced training with Toni & Guy at London’s Oxford Street Academy where he achieved an advanced diploma in cutting and became one of the most successful students.

He's also worked along side other hairdressing industry greats such as Jo Hansford in Mayfair before moving to Toni & Guy in Great Portland Street.

Vasil was a regular member of the Toni & Guy art team charged with preparing models for London Fashion Week, which the group sponsors. He's also styled for celebrities attending Daily Mail red carpet events and for models appearing in GQ magazine and in other glossy publications.

As well as Meg Ryan and Vikram Vinrod, he counted Radio One DJ and TV presenter Sarah Jane Crawford amongst his regulars.

Vasil commented: “I am really pleased to be in Shrewsbury. They seem like a fantastic team at the salon and have made me very welcome.

“Everyone here works to very high professional standard but there is also a warm, friendly and buzzing atmosphere in the salon which people appreciate,” he commented.
