Shropshire PR agency launches grammar guide
A Shropshire PR agency has launched a free guide outlining some of the worst, and most commonly made grammatical mistakes, in a bid to help businesses across the county avoid them.

Shrewsbury-based Zen Communications has issued the handy hints, called ‘The Grammatical Trap’, to help local businesses and residents avoid some of the simple errors that are made each day in CVs, job contracts, adverts and general writing tasks. Examples of some simple spelling errors, along with the abuse and misuse of apostrophes and commas, are outlined in the guide, which is available for free from the Zen Communications team.
Felicity Wingrove, Founder and Director of Zen Communications, explained: “We produced ‘The ‘Grammatical Trap’ to help businesses avoid making mistakes in their written communications, and to make them aware of the sheer importance of using good grammar. I’m a grammar geek myself and know that companies secure work through positive recommendations and referrals, a business’s credibility and reputation can be questioned if typos and grammatical mistakes are made in documents such as contracts and tenders, or in marketing materials like brochures or website copy.
“The power of the written word can often help clients choose which businesses that they want to work with – after all, it comes down to trust, and knowing that the services you offer will more than meet their expectations. I liken it to buying a house with a damp patch. You find yourself looking at the nooks and crannies, drainpipes and door handles, wondering if the rest of the house is as it seems, or if some problems are lurking out of sight.
“For individuals as well as businesses, an accurate, mistake-free CV or application form is crucial – with an average of 26 applicants per job in the West Midlands it can often be the difference between getting a job and not. We are all proud grammar geeks at Zen, and really do cringe when we see these simple-to-avoid errors crop up time and time again. Anyone interested in receiving the free guide is welcome to email admin@zen-communications.co.uk, and we’ll reply with the guide.” Felicity concluded.
