Top award nominations for county's leading care provider
Bosses and staff at Shropshire's leading independent care provider are celebrating after receiving 14 nominations in 17 categories for the prestigious Shropshire Care Awards.

Not-for-profit Coverage Care Services Limited is in the running to be named Care Business of the Year, for organisations with more than four sites, with the company's individual carers also recognised for their achievements across a range of categories.
The 2012 Shropshire Care Awards, now in their sixth year, will take place on October 12 at the Telford International Centre and celebrate the dedication and commitment of those working in the health and care sector.
Woodcroft Care Home in Market Drayton is a finalist in the Team Award category and Karen Watkins, of Shrewsbury's Briarfields, is nominated for the Registered Manager Awards.
Karen said: “I'm very honoured and surprised to be an individual finalist and obviously, very happy. I head up a fantastic team at Briarfields and I'd like to think this nomination is also a recognition of their hard work too.”
Staff from Coverage Care are nominated in each of the three Carer of the Year Awards categories, which include Lightmoor View's Lorraine Hollins for Dementia Care and Jemma Costello of Farcroft in Wellington for Residential and Nursing Care.
Lisa Marsh, of the company's Care at Home service based in Donnington, Telford, is a Domiciliary Care Carer of the Year finalist and her colleague Belinda Guy is nominated for the Employee of the Year – Ancillary Support category.
Chief executive David Coull said: “We're delighted to be shortlisted in 12 of the categories for the SPIC awards, which recognise not only excellent standards of care and customer service but how the independent health and social care sector in Shropshire is responding to the needs of the community.
“We are extremely proud of the staff who have been named as individual finalists. This is recognition of not only their tremendous hard work but also their dedication and sensitivity in caring for our service users.”
Clare Tyrer, also of Care at Home, and Amanda Pugh, of Barleyfield House have been named as a finalist in the Support Worker of the Year category with Carolyn Wright, of Whitchurch's Greenfields a contender for the Nurse of the Year title.
Sharon Braine, of Care At Home, is a finalist in the Care Ambassador Award, with Lightmoor View and Barleyfield House nominated for the Infection Prevention and Control Awards and Fairholme in Oswestry for the Health Eating Award.
The awards night will be a Hollywood themed evening event hosted by Vicki Archer from BBC Radio Shropshire and featuring celebrity guests Matt Littler and Darren Jefferies.
