New shop brings a world of treasures to Shrewsbury
A new antique, interiors and gift shop It’s a nomad life has opened its doors to Shrewsbury shoppers.

After a year of successful trading online and at local and national antiques fairs, local couple Sam Handbury-Madin and Victoria Crook have opened their first shop at 14 Wyle Cop, Shrewsbury.
It’s a nomad life brings customers a range of unique pieces from around the world, from the ancient Neolithic period right up to modern day.
Having both studied archaeology at university, Sam and Victoria both have a passion for items that have a story. ‘With a history of working in the antiques trade in my family, I have been collecting since I was a child. Many items have been sourced while I was travelling and working for galleries and auction houses overseas. My collection of 20 years has well and truly outgrown our house and we have both always dreamed of running our own shop,’ says Sam.
The shop sells a range of antiques, specialising in Tribal and Asian art. There are also lovely gifts, many of which have been handcrafted in India and adorning the walls are many one-off framed pieces and rugs.
The couple both believe that many people want something different to display in their homes; beautiful items that also have a history. They have been encouraged by the enthusiasm and support from customers since they opened in late September.
‘We’ve had a fantastic welcome from people in Shrewsbury, and some from outside the county. It’s great that so many people love the items in our shop – and that people travel to Shrewsbury from further afield to visit the wonderful variety of independent shops’, says Victoria.
It’s a nomad life is open from Tuesday – Saturday from 10.00-5.30pm (with extended hours planned during November and December). With a new gallery space on the second floor due to open before Christmas the shop is already set to grow!
