Oswestry pharmacist launches delivery service
An Oswestry pharmacist has launched a new delivery service in a bid to prevent pensioners putting themselves at risk of injury by collecting their medicines during the winter months.

John Gentle and his staff at The Pharmacy @ Caxton have taken delivery of the new van which will now be used to deliver medicines to people’s homes and also to collect prescriptions from other doctor’s surgeries before delivering them.
Mr Gentle said pensioners or vulnerable people who relied on their medicines often put their health at risk by failing to collect their prescriptions during bad weather.
Whilst others who did try to collect them during snow and freezing conditions put themselves at risk of falling whilst walking or using public transport.
Mr Gentle said he expected the new delivery service to be a great success.
“This new delivery service now means people who are meant to be housebound or are infirm but will have their prescriptions delivered to their door.
“As we are an independent pharmacy and are open to all patients from across the Oswestry area so are also offering to collect prescriptions from other surgeries, processing them before delivering them,” he said.
“When the weather is particularly bad it does not make any sense for the elderly or vulnerable people to walk the pavements or make a special trip, putting themselves at risk of an accident, when their prescription can be delivered to their door free of charge.”
