A Shropshire businessman is in the final three for a prestigious national award – for the second year in a row.

Shropshire chartered financial planner up for national award

Robin Melley is a chartered financial planner at Matrix Capital Limited, near Bridgnorth, and has been shortlisted in this year’s Personal Finance Society Chartered Awards.

He has already completed the first two stages of a tough judging process and will now face a panel interview in London to decide the final winner of the Chartered Financial Planner of the Year category.

“I’m very proud to have reached the final three for the second year running, and I’m determined to do my very best to come out on top this time,” said Robin.

“I’ve already written about my passion about the profession and why I think I deserve to win, and I also had to complete a case study giving my financial planning recommendations, which has been reviewed by technical experts.

“Now I’ll be facing a panel of industry experts from a wide range of sectors, including the Personal Finance Society’s past president, Jon Everill.”

Robin will find out if he’s the winner at the Chartered Awards gala dinner held as part of the PFS annual conference at the ICC in Birmingham in November.

Around 3,000 people are now recognised as chartered financial planners, and it’s seen as the gold standard for the financial planning industry.

Launched in 2009, the Personal Finance Society’s awards recognise the contribution that chartered status makes to the reputation of financial planning as a trusted and valued profession.

“It really would be the ultimate stamp of approval if I win the award, and a huge personal achievement,” said Robin.

“Chartered status means our clients can be reassured they will receive the very highest level of support from us at Matrix Capital, and the national award would be an amazing endorsement for our company.”

Matrix Capital supports both business and private clients, offering advice on investments, pensions, retirement, and inheritance tax issues.
