The Shropshire company which operates 16 care homes in the county is in the running for eight top industry awards, including being named Care Employer of the year.

Care provider celebrates nominations in GB Care Awards

Coverage Care, which is based in Shrewsbury, is shortlisted in eight Great British Care Awards categories, with the regional awards taking place this Friday in Birmingham.

The nominations are further good news for the not-for-profit company after it scooped honours at the Shropshire Care Awards 2012 earlier this month.

The West Midlands Great British Care Awards 2012 is one of nine regional events throughout the country organised to celebrate excellence in the care sector, leading to two national finals for both the home care and care home sectors to be held in London next year.

Coverage Care chief executive David Coull said: “We are delighted that the company and its staff have been nominated for the Great British Care Awards. We're up against tough competition but it is fantastic that the commitment and hard work of our staff has been recognised in these categories.”

Among the staff nominated are Trish Owen, of Shrewsbury's Barleyfield House for the Care Home Manager Award; Alison Gough and Claire Colclough, of The Cottage Christian Nursing Home in Newport, for the Dementia Carer Award and The Ancillary Worker Award respectively.

Lorraine Hollins from Telford's Lightmoor View is short-listed in the Care Home Activity Organiser category and Chris Fair and Darren Bolas, both of Woodcroft in Market Drayton, for the Nutrition and Hydration Award and The Dignity in Care Award respectively.

Coverage Care's director of operations, Beverley Aldridge, is short-listed for The Frontline Leaders Award at the ceremony which will be held on October 26, at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham, hosted by television personality Keith Chegwin.

The nominations follow on from Coverage Care's Shropshire Care Awards success, which saw it named Care Business of the Year for operators with more than four sites.
