Shropshire couriers cool under pressure for dairy deliveries

A Shropshire same day courier company has clocked up thousands of miles to help one of the nation’s best loved organic dairies exhibit its range of products.

Shropshire couriers cool under pressure for dairy deliveries

Over the past year, Dex’s Midnight Runners (DMR) has been called upon by the award-winning Rachel’s Organic to ensure the secure chilled delivery of tonnes of dairy products showcased at a variety of major food and lifestyle events across the UK.

The partnership has seen Rachel’s Organic, the UK’s first certified organic dairy and a yogurt, dessert and milk supplier to supermarkets and events nationwide, call upon DMR to transport its chilled range to a variety of events, including the BBC Food Show in Birmingham, The Harrogate Flower Show, and The Chatsworth Game Fair, using the firms specialist refrigerated vans, which ensure products are kept at a constantly chilled temperature whilst in transit.

Derek Bennion, Director of DMR, commented: “We were asked in January by Rachel’s Organic to deliver products to nine high profile shows across the year. The process has involved us taking two refrigerated vans in convoy to collect two tonnes of yogurt from its warehouses in Oswestry and Stafford, to be delivered a day in advance to each of the shows. Not only did our drivers load up the vans and transport the cargo to the event, they also worked with Rachel’s Organic’s team at the event to ensure all products are safely stored in large on-site fridges. The range proved so popular at The Good Food Show in Birmingham, we were actually called upon last minute to take three additional van loads.”

“The chilled goods are transported in our specialist refrigerated courier vans, which are all fitted with a log that registers the temperature every 15 minutes. This enables us to monitor the cargo as it’s being transported, as well as provide our customers with an audit trail, which is essential when transporting refrigerated products such as yogurt and milk.”

Dexter Lewis, Events Manager at Rachel’s Dairy said: “Derek and his team at DMR have provided a superb refrigerated delivery service for Rachel’s this year. The year has been particularly bad weather wise and the DMR drivers have always been very helpful in difficult circumstances. There has always been clear communication and I would recommend them to any potential client.”

In addition to the shows DMR has successfully delivered the goods, the firm will also be helping Rachel’s Organic showcase its range at the upcoming BBC Good Food Shows at Birmingham’s NEC and London’s Olympia in November.
