Shropshire Chamber of Commerce is offering SMEs across the county valuable advice and guidance to achieving business success internationally, at a series of workshops this month.

Free to attend, the workshops will run throughout November and are dedicated to promoting growth and trade internationally, in a variety of countries. The events are all supported by UKTI (UK Trade and Investment) which works with UK-based businesses to ensure their success in international markets.

The first event will be held on Wednesday 7th November and attendees will be provided with information about how to grow their firms in the US. The Ten Steps to Business Success in the US will welcome a number of speakers, including principal speaker Barry Matherly, Senior Vice President of The Greater Richmond Partnership Inc, who will provide a simple and practical approach to engaging in business in America, and avoid some of the pitfalls associated with accessing a new market.

A workshop to support trade and opportunities in Italy will be held on Monday 19th November, and the programme will welcome Rosey Alesi, Head of Trade for Italy, who specialises within the oil, gas power, recycling, and construction industries. As part of her visit, Members will also be given the opportunity to meet with her personally to discuss the wealth of opportunities for their specific business operating within the Italian market.

The penultimate event of the month will explore the opportunities for businesses within the Brazilian market. Flavia Silva de Castro, a business development manager for Brazil, who has extensive knowledge of the oil and gas sector, will be visiting Shropshire Chamber of Commerce’s headquarters in Stafford Park, Telford. Members will have the opportunity to discuss with her possible opportunities within the Brazilian market.

To round off the month’s international trade and export events, the Chamber will be hosting a special all-day event devoted to Exporting for Growth, between 8.30am- 2.00pm on Friday 30th November at Shirehall, Shrewsbury. The day will play host to a number of inspirational speakers including Steve Westwood from Shropshire-based Discovery Foils, which is one of the world’s leading producers of aluminium foil-based packaging for the food and confectionery sector. Dr Geoffrey Davies OBE DL, Founder, Managing Director and CEO of Alamo Group Europe LTD and Managing Director of Ludlow-based McConnel LTd will also provide tips on successful exporting in challenging international markets.

Richard Sheehan, Managing Director of Shropshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “The month’s series of workshops dedicated to successful growth and exports in the international market is set to provide our Members with a fantastic opportunity to meet some truly inspirational people who will share some tips to achieving global success.

“There are a large number of key emerging economies across the world that offer significant potential opportunities for businesses to grow their markets aboard, which is becoming ever-more vital in ensuring their growth and future prosperity.”

“For anyone interested in attending, please get in touch on 01952 208200 or email enquiries@shropshire-chamber.co.uk, or book online at www.shropshire-chamber.co.uk.”
