SP Holding acquires Wilson Trailers brand
SP Holding Group has acquired the brand and intellectual property rights for Wilson Trailers marking an important step in its strategy to build a powerful integrated UK-wide truck and trailer care service.
Telford-based SP Holding can now provide Wilson Trailers customers with ongoing maintenance and repair services for the wide range of trailers they use – and will continue to manufacturer commercial vehicle trailers under the Wilson Trailer brand.
Wilson Trailers is widely recognised as a UK brand leader in the design and manufacture of commercial vehicle bodies, and is best known for its innovative multi deck and drawbar products.
SP Holding Group Managing Director Steve Holding said: “This is excellent news for SP Holding Group and for the many customers of Wilson Trailers who value the excellent trailers and vehicle bodies they have made for the last 30 years.
“Existing customers who hold a Wilson Trailers warranty can be assured that it will be fully honoured. Going forward, SP Holding can also offer an attractive finance and parts service, plus full warranty management repair and maintenance contracts.
“Wilson Trailers customers can also look forward to being able to continue to buy new trailers under the same high quality, high value brand.”
SP Holding holds the intellectual property rights to the Wilson Trailers brand and the rights to design and manufacture current and new products.
It has launched a three month plan to integrate the brand into its UK logistics support business. This will involve moving trailer design and production to SP Holding’s HQ in Telford, potentially creating more manufacturing jobs in the town.
SP Holding will also be working towards a full European type approval for the full range of Wilson Trailers products, which also include urban trailers, box truck bodies and multi deck products.
SP Holding has grown its logistics support business rapidly in the last two years with the aim of creating a total truck and trailer care service for the UK haulage industry.
In 2011 it acquired the Wolverhampton-based Trailercare brand – and is providing a fast-expanding trailer repair and maintenance service for a significant number of blue chip businesses.
SP Holding has also developed highly innovative and competitive truck contract hire and maintenance packages for large UK businesses.

“Since then, the brand has been enhanced still further, with its Curtain-Clear range, offering even greater fuel savings and allowing operators to use 100% of the deck space. We will continue this excellent record of innovation with future Wilson Trailers products.”
